Linnets Ladies make a long-awaited return to home soil this weekend they face Wirral Phoenix at APEC Taxis Stadium.

The team has not had a home fixture since December 7th, when they were narrowly beaten by AFC Crewe.

The 2pm kick-off game sees Linnets, lying fourth in North West Women's Regional League's South Division, looking to move within touching distance of Manchester Laces in third place.

They play a Wirral team currently occupying sixth spot.

The first meeting of the teams this season at Cammell Laird FC saw Linnets romp to a 7-2 away triumph with a brace from Lile Ashley being backed up by goals for Mollie Bennett, Aisling Hart, Sophie Rotheram, Chelsea Gillies and Beth Graham.

2026 has seen some promising performances from Runcorn, who have picked up maximum league points and progressed to the semi-final of the GoCardless Cheshire FA Women's Cup in which they will travel to Crewe Alexandra.

Our visitors at the weekend are on a run of poor form, having not won in their previous seven outings - including a 5-1 exit from the Cheshire Cup to Macclesfield, who Linnets defeated comfortably at the weekend.

Runcorn will be hoping to see the return of key players in this fixture, including Saffron Tilston, Emma Smith and Sophie Rotheram.

They will already  have been buoyed by Sunday's successful comeback for captain Emma Mclarney.

All support, old and new, would be welcomed this weekend.
