Runcorn Linnets Ladies 2 MSB Woolton 0
Wednesday night saw Linnets Ladies play their first home game of the season as they looked to get their first points on the board after a disappointing result in their opening game.
Both teams played the game in great spirit with some fantastic battles all over the pitch and some great tackles flying in.
Linnets had a couple of good chances in the first half but unfortunately couldn’t convert them. The defence and goalkeeper looked solid though and prevented Woolton from creating too much.
Lile Ashley takes the game to MSB Woolton.
The hosts came out in the second half with the same fighting spirit and midway through the half, great work from Molly Hewitt gave Lile Ashley the opportunity to strike.
She did exactly that, superbly lobbing the keeper on the half volley to put Linnets 1–0 up.
MSB Woolton reacted well to going behind and had a couple of good chances to get themselves back into the game.
However, they were soon punished as an excellent run down the channel and cross from Lily Shakeshaft gave Eva Whimperley the perfect opportunity to head home Linnets' second.
An unbelievable response from Sunday's defeat at Wirral zubited and a proper team performance from start to finish.
Chelsea Gillies keeps control in a tight spot.

Faultless all game and thoroughly deserved the award!
A brilliant first home game and a well deserved three points for the Ladies! 💛💚⚽️
Linnets coach and former co-manager Jack Slater, above, is revelling in the new nickname of "played one, won one" after taking charge of the side in the absence of new manager Paul McKiernon and assistant Dave Bentham!
