Ryan Brookfield was drafted in as goalkeeper coach by Michael Ellison, having previously worked alongside the reappointed Runcorn manager at Widnes.
Ryan spent three years as a player with Chester City, where he rose through the youth ranks.
He made one senior appearance for the Seals, as a substutute at Lincoln City in December 2005.
Released at the end of the 2005-06 season, Ryan moved into non-League football with Colwyn Bay.
He later played for Waterloo Dock, helping the then Liverpool County Premier League champions to reach the 2008-09 tLiverpool Senior Cup final in which they lost by the only goal to Liverpool Reserves.
