@RUNCORN LINNETS FOOTBALL CLUB (“we”, “our”, “us”) is committed to protecting your personal data and respecting your privacy. This Privacy Notice explains how we collect, store, use, and share information when you use our mobile application (the “App”).

We are the data controller for the App and take reasonable measures to keep your data secure and prevent unauthorised access.

1. What Personal Data We Collect

When you use the App, we may collect and store the following types of personal data:

A unique user ID automatically assigned to you upon registration or first use (this may be anonymous unless linked to other identifiers).
Basic user information such as display name or email address (if provided or integrated through your device/app login).
In-app actions such as votes, preferences, or interaction history.
Technical data such as device type, operating system, and anonymous usage statistics.
Location data (such as approximate or precise GPS location), if you grant permission. This may be used for features like match discovery, regional voting restrictions, or analytics.
Optional: your responses to fan engagement activities such as Man of the Match voting, polls, or competitions.

2. How We Collect Your Data

Data is collected via:

App registration or user session initiation.
Firebase/Firestore databases when you interact with app features.
Stored preferences using secure in-app storage.
Optional fields you fill in, or information shared through integrations.
Location data is collected via your device’s GPS or network-based services if you provide permission. You can control this via your device settings at any time.

We only process special category data (e.g., health information) if explicitly provided and consented to. This is unlikely to apply to core app functions.

4. Who We Share Your Data With

We may share data with:

Firebase (Google Cloud): Our backend infrastructure uses Firestore and other Firebase services. Data may be stored securely in the EU or other regions depending on configuration.
Club administrators or match organisers for operational purposes (e.g., to manage votes or events).
Third-party service providers (e.g., analytics or hosting providers), strictly for functional purposes.

Location data is used solely within the app and is not shared with third parties or used for marketing purposes.

We do not sell or share personal data for advertising or marketing without your explicit consent.

5. International Transfers

Firebase is a Google service and may store your data outside the UK. Appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) are in place to ensure your data remains protected.

6. Security Measures

We use a combination of:

Firebase Authentication & Firestore rules to protect data access.
Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS).
Platform-level security from Firebase and GoodBarber.

Your personal data is not accessible to other users unless made public intentionally (e.g., leaderboard or voting results if consented).

7. Data Retention

We retain user data only for as long as it’s needed for the purposes above. Typically, this means:

Active data is retained while you use the app.
If you delete the app or request deletion, we aim to erase all personal data within 30 days, unless legal requirements apply.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Request access to your data.
Correct inaccurate data.
Request deletion of your data (deletion of your account).
Object to or restrict certain processing.
File a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
